YouthTruth is coming! Be a part of shaping WUSD for years to come!

Posted Date: 12/27/24 (11:00 AM)

Dear WUSD Community:

The YouthTruth 2025 survey is coming, and we want to encourage our entire community to take part in this important work. Students, families, and staff members will all have versions of the survey to take, and we want everyone to help us improve our schools. Like all other schools in Sonoma County, WUSD has partnered with YouthTruth – a nonprofit organization that supports hundreds of schools and districts across the country – to conduct an anonymous survey on our behalf.

The anonymous YouthTruth survey gives families, students and staff the opportunity to provide feedback for their child's school in areas like culture, engagement, relationships, communication & feedback, school safety, and resources.

We will be using the information we receive from this survey to guide our plans and decisions, including curriculum, course offerings, student support, staffing, and ultimately, helping us create our Local Control Accountability Plan for the next three-year cycle. Your input and feedback in this process is crucial for our success!

The survey period will be Jan. 6, 2025, to Jan. 31, 2025. Students in grades 3-12 will take their surveys in class (TK-2 students do not take YouthTruth), staff and families at all grade levels will be provided with links to take an online version. There will be reminders sent throughout the survey period.

Families, please note: The survey asks students about their experiences in the school and with their teachers, including how engaged they are at school, the rigor of their coursework, and their preparedness for the future. Our school, other schools, and researchers may use such information for developing plans to help schools and teachers improve. For information about this survey, please visit http://youthtruthsurvey.org, or speak to your school site administrator.

Although we want to hear from all students, participation in this survey is voluntary. Your child’s ratings will not be identified in any reports because results are shared at the group level. Personally identifiable information will not be released to any third party.

Please note that under federal law, you have the right to review a copy of the questions asked of your child. If you would like to do so, please contact the District Office.

If you have any questions about the survey, or our plans for how we will use your feedback, please contact Brian Williams, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services (bwilliams@wusd.org), Heather Bailey, Coordinator of District Communications (hbailey@wusd.org) or your school site administrative team.

Sincerely,

Your Windsor Unified School District Team
